The maximum number of people are in the form of frontline, which is what we believe would be true for the entire industry. For us, our stores have to be like neighbourhood stores. Although, our stores are 50,000 sq ft, yet the feel they should provide and, are providing, is that of a neighbourhood store. This means that it caters to the geography of the area where it’s situated within a vicinity of 3 kms. The employees should reflect the values of the area. Therefore, we recruit people from the locality. If it is a locality dominated by Gujaratis, we would have a staff that can speak the language. It will be the same for areas in Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. One needs to realise that people like to converse with others in native languages and this is important for personal touch.
